I enjoyed playing your pieces in Contrasts and am trying to buy more of your works on line. Please make it easier to find where we can buy your music. I've been playing piano since 1956 and your pieces are just what I have been looking for to play for a long time. My birthday is also 1st April but 1948. My love of classical music has always prevailed over all others. Keep on composing - I love your combination of contemporary merged with traditional music.

Well written, melodic, balanced and inspired. Not enough music like this in the world anymore.

Music

Robin Lamott is a composer of Piano music in the romantic and modern style. He has composed over 100 Piano pieces. His most recent publication, titled “Contrasts” contains 7 pieces for piano. Other famous works are: Ballade, Etude Manifique, Eulogy, The Field mouse and Two part invention. Lamott has been called the reincarnated one as his music is said to resemble Chopin, Schumann and even Bach.

Life

Robin Lamott became a naturalized Australian citizen in 1973, although born in Zagreb (Croatia) in April 1960, he now permanently lives in Sydney. His first interest in music began at the age of 5 in Saltzburg when he was inspired by the sound of the pipe organ at church every sunday. Formal musical training began in 1972 with piano and theory lessons at the Gallaghers school of music in Parramatta (Sydney).

After just a few years he became a regular prize winning young pianist at local eistedfods and piano competitions. He was a great admirer of the piano music of Chopin, Liszt, Brahms and Schumann and disliked contemporary trends of atonal and unmelodic styles of music writing. However it wasn’t untill he was 18 that he began to take an interest in composing for the piano.

In 1984 he studied composition with Prof. Edwin Carr (head of Composition at Sydney conservatorium) for 2 years after which time he moved to England and worked as a freelance pianist for ballet schools around London. During this time he began to write music for ballet and choriography work. This led to the international release of a 3 cd volume of piano music for all grades of Ballet. In 1991 he returned to Sydney and began to teach piano and study piano technology. In 1995 he began his own business as a piano tuner and technician.

He gradually developed a style of music that is similar to his favourite composers of the early Romantic period purely out of his own personal musical choice, talent and inspiration. A friend once said, “when inspiration struck him he would lock himself away and work tirelessly at his piece until it was finished and he was satisfied with every note. Only then would he play it for me”.

Robin Lamott is a late romantic period composer who writes in a traditional way and who believes that music is nothing without melody that mooves you.
