Life
Rodolphe Kreutzer was a violinist and composer. At age 16 he was appopinted first violin in the royal chapel of Marie Antoinette. Later he was leader at the Théâtre Italien. There he also started producing his own operas. In 1795 he became violin professor at the Paris conservatory. In 1798 he met Beethoven in Vienna. In 1801 he succeeded Pierre Rode as leader of the Paris Opéra.
Ludwig van Beethoven dedicated his “Kreutzer Sonata” to Rodolphe Kreutzer.
