- French Legion of Honour for Zygmunt Krauze
(5 February 2008)The highest French award, the Legion of Honour, for outstanding services to France, was given to Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze.
Pierre Boulez invited Krauze in 1982 to become a musical advisor to IRCAM in Paris. For Radio France Musique he produced weekly features on avant-garde music .
Krauze mainly composed orchestral works, chamber music, songs and operas. His compositions were played at many important festivals, like Autumne de Paris, Musica in Strasbourg, Holland Festival, World Music Days, and the Warsaw Autumn, and concert halls, like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Palais de Festival in Cannes and the Beethovenhalle in Bonn.
