Friedrich Kiel was a highly respected composer of chamber music, and sacred choral music. a German musical encyclopaeda of the time said "at his best he can be compared with Brahms. He was a very important teacher, among his students - Charles Villiers Stanford, and Ignaz Paderewski. He died in Berlin as the result of a traffic accident his works are perhaps the best of those who were of the school of Brahms (chamber music).
