- Monument for Khachaturian in Moscow
[posted 1 November 2006]In the presence of Lyudmila Putin, the wife of the Russian president, Robert Kocharyan, Armenia's president and Yuri Luzhkov, the mayor of Moscow, a bronze monument was unveiled of Russian-Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian.
The statue stands in the public garden near the House of Composers in Bryusov Lane, Moscow, not far from the place where the composer lived. The monument to Khachaturian was opened during the Year of Armenia in Russia.

Khachaturian was an Armenian composer, the son of a poor family living in the Russian (Soviet) state of Georgia.
His wife Nina Makarova was also a composer.
