Music

Gordon Kerry is one of Australia’s leading composers. He has an extensive list of works for choirs, chamber ensembles, solo instrument and orchestra. His opera Medea, to a libretto by Justin Macdonell, has had great success in Australia, with three seasons in its first year (by Chamber Made Opera), and performances at the Kennedy Centre in 1994, and by the Berlin Kammeroper in Berlin and Basekow in 1995. His orchestral works have been performed by all the Australian Symphony Orchestras, and the string piece Out of Winter had its premiere by Ensemble XXI in Moscow in December 1992. This piece will be resorded by Ensemble XXI in 1996. Current projects include a Cello Concerto for Truls Mork and a newly commissioned work for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
