Biography
Faradj Karayev was born December 19 1943 in Baku, as son of the composer Kara Karaev . He studied with his father, and in his later years made use of Azeri Folk Music. He had periods of serialism and minimal music . His Farewell Symphony was issued on a Megadisc CD. More is his works are to be found this label as well as on the Melodiya label. He wrote a piano concerto (after his father’s Violin Cto, 1987) and a Violin Concerto in 2004. Most of his compositions are for smaller combinations.
