Life
Faradj Karayev was born December 19 1943 in Baku, as son of the composer Kara Karaev. He studied with his father, and in his later years made use of Azeri Folk Music. He had periods of serialism and minimal music. His Farewell Symphony was issued on a Megadisc CD. More is his works are to be found this label as well as on the Melodiya label. He wrote a piano concerto (after his father’s Violin Cto, 1987) and a Violin Concerto in 2004. Most of his compositions are for smaller combinations.
