Life
Originally Pieter de Jong studied French language & literature at the university of Utrecht; he graduated in 1974. Was a teacher at the secondary school for a few years. Later on orientation towards classical music, many years of piano lessons and courses in Harmony and Counterpoint. Learned how to write a Fugue… study of Bach.
Many composing experiments… perform regularly since 2000 with piano recitals of 90 minutes ca. 60 minutes (with intermission). Publicly, mostly in service flats. He am also a piano teacher.
Since the beginning of 2009 composing a piano concerto which he succeeded in finishing “in draft” (corrections/adaptions needed). His goal is to have this work published ultimately, and to search for an amateur symphony orchestra to have it performed, later on hopefully a professional orchestra. He would like to do the solo part himself, or at least occasionally. For sharing information, looking for advice or discussion please write to his e-mail address (<phjdejong
msn.com>).
His concerto is in 3 movements (duration appr. 42’) and is in late-romantic style (some influences of Debussy/Prokofiev), heavily leaning on the russian masters Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.
