Gerard Hoffnung did not compose himself, but he commissioned the foremost composers of his day.

Life

Artist, teacher, caricaturist, musician and tuba player, Gerard Hoffnung became famous as organiser of The Hoffnung Music Festival Concerts (first held 1956), which consisted of music caricatures.
