Music

Music varies from works for piano to chamber music to symphonic works. It is deeply rooted in the 18th century styles of Mozart, Haydn and early Beethoven.

Biography

Kevin Franz Josef Harris was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 19, 1965.

At age 6, Kevin began showing a gift with music and his parents enrolled him in piano lessons a year later. He spent three years learning piano and eventually gave it up at age 10.

At 21, Kevin once again began to show interest in music. He resumed playing the piano as if he had been playing it all along. After a few years of playing around on the piano, Kevin began to take an interest in composing music. His original piano teacher, however, did not wish to pursue teaching composition.

So he began to study on his own, but didn’t get very far. One day he met someone who would help him down the right path. Claude Fazio was a mathematician at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. Mr. Fazio was, himself, a composer of music in the style of J.S. Bach. He would generously spend the next 3 years teaching Kevin the basics of composition.

In 1992, the teaching began and a series of practice pieces resulted. Only one of these have survived. Some were reworked and became Kevin’s first compositions (Opus 1 through 3).

In 1994, Claude left the Washington area to pursue other career goals and this left Kevin on his own. He continued to study the scores of Mozart, Haydn and J.C. Bach. Over time, his style matured and he began producing music at a fast pace, until recently when he has begun to relax a little.

Over the years, Kevin has received a lot of praise for his music, from his friends and family, from professionals and fans on the internet.
