Biography

Mr. Harizanos studied Composition, Fugue, Counterpoinr, Harmony and Orchestration at the National Conservatory of Greece and Musical College of St. Paraskevi in Athens with Spiros Klapsis and Christos Lambrianidis from 1992-99. He then studied composition with Prof. John Casken and Geoffrey Poole at the University of Manchester in 2000-01, where he earned his MMus (Master in Music) in composition. He was offered a place for PhD studies in Composition at Brunel University in London. Probably start date of studies in October 2005. He has also attended seminars by Theodore Antoniou, Charles Camilleri, Christos Lambrianidis and Eric Zoran and studied Histrory of Arts at the Archaelogical Institute of Athens from 1994-96.

Among his honors are performances in a concert organized by the Greek Embassy in Bucharest (2003, Trio), at the International Youth Music Forum in Kyiv (2003, Iho). His music has also been performed at various places in UK and Greece by Psappha Ensemble, Marcel Spiney Contemporary Music Ensemble, London Chamber Group, pianist George Philadelpeus violinist Leonidas Sakellarides as well as by noumerous festival and university ensembles.

He has also composed music for documentary films (National Television of Greece and Cyprus) and theatre (UK and Greece).
