Life

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Amanda Guerreño studied at the Higher School of Fine Arts belonging to the La Plata National University, obtaining a degree as Advanced Professor in Piano.

She studied piano under Maestro Roberto Castro and composition under Maestros Roberto García Morillo and Alberto Ginastera. She was coached in instrumentation and orchestration by Conductor Mariano Drago.

She studied the organ under Maestro Julio Perceval at the Colón Theatre, undergoing a prior selection process involving competitive examinations and interviews. She continued with Master Organist, Héctor Zeoli.

At the "Instituto Torcuato di Tella", in their Latin American Center for Higher Musical Studies, she pursued the study of Electronic Music and went on to study Electroacoustic Music under Maestro Francisco Kröpfel.

Amanda Guerreño has taught widely in schools, at both primary and secondary levels, and has been Choir Master of various ensembles.

In her capacity as pianist, she has given numerous concerts and broadcasts in Argentina, particularly within cycles of Argentine and Latin American Music, but also of Classical and Contemporary Music.

In her role as composer she has written works of various genres, ranging from songs to symphonies and chamber music pieces. She founded the "Limay" Group to stage her Latin American "Via Crucis" (Stations of the Cross). With them she toured various European countries (Germany, Switzerland, France) to promote the piece. The work has been edited by MISEREOR (German Episcopal Conference Organization) and in Argentina.

Guerreño also created her own tango ensemble, "Música Ciudadana", thus promoting her own tango compositions for several years. A CD was released with these works. Her Cantata, "Homage to America", was released in 1970. Other works which have been recorded include "Tierra Nuestra Libertad" (Our Land Freedom) in 1987 and Cantata for Choir and Instrumental Ensemble, released in 2002.

As composer, her works have been heard in Argentina and abroad and have been acknowledged by both local and international reviewers and critics.
