Music

In 1977 he was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture to write a piece for wind band, resulting in Concertino voor fanfare. Since then he has received several commissions to compose for wind bands, e.g. from the Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst (Governmental fund for the creation of music) and the Organisatie Nederlandse Brassband Kampioenschappen (Organisation of The Netherlands Brass Band Competition).

Prizes: In 2003 Goorhuis was awarded with the Gerard Boedijn Medal.

Biography

His music education started at the age of thirteen, with organist Bernard Bartelink. At the conservatory of music he has obtained diplomas for piano, organ (cum laude), choir conducting and theory of music. For some years he also studied orchestral conducting with Paul Hupperts.
