Music
The most important compositions of Godowsky are:
- 53 Studies based upon the 26 Etudes of Chopin
- Passacaglia (upon a theme by Schubert)
- Java Suite, in 4 parts
- Sonata in e minor
- Walzermasken (24 tone fantasias)
- Renaissance (19 Free transcriptions of old masterpices)
- Three Concert paraphrases on the works of von Weber
- 6 concert Arrangements of Chopin waltzes
- 12 freely transcribed songs by Franz Schubert
- 4 Poems for the piano
- 6 sonatas and suites for violin and cello by Bach freely transcribed for the piano
- Triakontameron: 30 modds and scenes in triple measure (includes the famous "Alt-Wein")
All the above for piano solo.
In addition:
- 3 suites (12 pieces)
- 7 ancient dances
- 7 modern dances
- 20 miscellaneous minatures
for piano four hands.
As far as I know, almost all these works are no longer commercially available except the studies on the Chopin etudes.
