Music



Studied under Ignaz Mosheles. Resident in Brussels, 1845, where he gave concerts. In 1846 he was made an honorary member of the Societé de Grand Harmonie, Brussels. Toured in Germany the same year. Returned to London in 1850 where he settled as teacher and composer. His works include three cantatas: The Wood Nymphs, The Elfin Knight,and the Three Sisters; an Opera and two Symphonies(in MS); Sonata for Violin and pianoforte; A large number of pianoforte pieces; Meditations, 24 pieces; Polonaise; Chanson à Boire; Chanson d’amour Four sketches etc. most works can be found in British Library Music Dept. Born in Marylebone, London. Christened 29 October 1826. All souls church, Marylebone. Parents were James and Ann, Lived 9, Foley Street, London. 1826. 17, Charlotte Street, london. 1851. 15, Kildare Terrace, London. 1861. 31 Clarendon Gardens, Maida Vale, London. 1881.

He Married Rosine Agnes Watts 18 October 1855 Westminster, London, and Rosina Annette Horton 27 December 1889 Fulham, London. Had two children with second wife, and also a stepdaughter.

He was the pianist to her H.R.H. the Grand Duchesse Stephanie of Baden and also a good friend of a composer named Emile Berger who, I believe, was Austrian born but lived in Glasgow and London. He was also related by marraige to an English vocalist & composer named Lawrence Kellie 3 April 1862 - 20 August 1932, pupil of Albert Randegger, and he gave promenade concerts at Covent Garden.
