Biography

Ludo Geloen (°1962 at Dikkebus, Belgium) is organist and carillonist at Ieper (Belgium). He is organteacher at the Musicschool at Ieper, Diksmuide and Poperinge. He finished his studies at the Musicschool at Gent (with 96%) and did win 1 Prices at the Conservatory of Gent for instrument (organ) and composition.

For carillon, he took his studies at the Royal Conservatory at Gent and the Royal Beiaardschool ‘Jef Denyn’ at Mechelen. In 1999, he was Director a.i. of the Academie of Music ‘Clemens non papa’ at Diksmuide. On his repertoire, he has pieces of all great organcomposers of the European classical music. He has played concerts and made recordings for radio and television in Belgium and abroad (The Netherlans, Germany, France, Italy and Russia). He makes a CD on 3 organs at Ieper in May 1999. Ludo is also composer and improvisator. His improvisations are well known and highly appreciated. As a composer, he receives commissions which are supported by the Belgian Government. These are the compositions:

All the Time op. 20 (voor cello, piano, gong en aambeeld ): Roeselare 1995 All the Dreams op. 24 (voor sopraan, cello, piano en gong): Roeselare ‘97 Et incarnatus est op.10b (voor gitaar en orgel): Hollebeke 1997 Dicasmutha op. 27 (voor orgel quatre-mains): Diksmuide 1998 Verstilde Nacht op. 28 (voor hobo, gitaar en orgel): Poperinge 1998 Drie Eenzaamheden op. 31 (voor piano): Roeselare 1999 Missa propter caram pacem op. 45 for soprano, hoir and organ: Ieper 2001

He was laureate at contests for organ (Terneuzen, Holland) and composition (Utrecht, Holland and Gent, Belgium). He founded an association at Ieper to organize concerts. This organization is called: Orgelkring ‘Organum Yprense’ vzw. The concerts are played at three great organs in the city. Also other ensembles, with or without organ, are invited at Ieper. On this occasions, Ludo played concerts with hobo, trumpet, singers, guitar, flute, violin... Also concerts related with poetry, sculpture and paintings have been done. He founded in 2000 a cultural e-zine for his region ‘De Westhoek’, called ‘Het HemelBed’.
