Editorial Review:

Album Description:

Grigori Frid (1915-)

Das Tagbuch Der Anne Frank
The Diary of Anne Frank

World Premiere Recording

Mono-Oper (Monologue-Opera)
Sandra Schwarzhaupt, soprano
Emsland Ensemble
Hans Erik Deckert, director

Based on one of the most moving books ever published, composer Grigori Frid saw a universal message in the immediacy of Anne's account. Frid compressed the material of the diary in to 21 scenes which capture the essence and drama of the writing. Performed in Germany in 1996, many opera houses are now performing this dramatically challenging work.
