Music



His music is characterised by elaborate harmony and lyric melody. Works include pieces for solo instruments, mixed choir, symphony orchestra, big band, jazz combo as well as pop tunes in English and Hungarian. As composer and pianist, Gergely Földvári has worked for various media including film, television, radio, CD-rom, and has made several recordings that have been published. He is currently recording artist for the Hungaroton label.

Life

Gergely Foldvari, also known as Greg Foldvari, was born Földvári Gergely in 1970, lives in his native Budapest and New York City.

He began playing the piano at age 7 under the late Ms. Elisabeth Vadász after a few years of living in Brazil with his family. Soon turning to jazz and composition, at age 13 he founded a jazz group playing his orginal music named "Trupp". The winner of various scholarship awards, he then continued his music education at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, USA. Following his graduation, he continued to study classical piano under Ferenc Rados. He is currently composing and recording music, as well as performing as pianist and teaching.
