Biography

Franco Ferrara was estimated as a Mozart of our time: violinist, pianist, organist and composer He started His professional activity at age 9, becoming Concertmaster of major italian Orchestras.

At age 13 he was Concertmaster of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and then in Augusteo Orchestra (Rome) under the baton of Bruno Walter, Toscanini, Guarnieri (his mentor), De Sabata.

Considered as a giant among the great conductors of XX century due to his legendary musical talent, Franco Ferrara had to stop his conducting activity because of health troubles in the early ‘60.

In spite of it He continued His work as a teacher of three generations of Conductors (Accademia Chigiana of Siena; Radio Hilversum Holland; Paris Conservatoire; Berkshire Music Centre Tanglewood; Julliard School New York; Accademia S. Cecilia Roma).

He recorded a lot of film music written by himself or by other great composers of that field (Nino Rota, Mario Nascimbene, Ennio Morricone, etc.).
