Life

Fazzolari began studies in piano at the age of 4, and composed his first piece a year later. After attending the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (Piano and Harmony) he completed his Bachelor’s of Music (Honours Theory and Composition) at the University of Western Ontario, 1989 studying with Peter Paul Koprowski and Jack Behrens.

He moved to Siena, Italy to study with Franco Donadoni at Chigiana Accademy 1989. On to New York City for a Master Degree at CUNY’s City College under Pulitzer Prize winner David Del Tredici (master classes with Leonard Bernstein). Final stop and a Ph.D. in composition at the University of Minnesota with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Dominick Argento 1996.

Dr. Fazzolari then moved to Milan, Italy in 1996 where he works and teaches. He is preparing a world premiere CD of his music featuring his String Quartet "Quartetto D’arte" (Dino Sassai, 1st violin at La Scala, Ugo Martelli violinist and SKY TV Television Host Classical Music Channel, Milan, Giambattista Pianezzola, viola Pomeriggi Musicali, Annamaria Bernadette Cristian, cello) as well as a solo piano piece performed by highly acclaimed pianist and fellow Canadian Louis Lortie.
