Music
The works of Fährmann consist of 90 works. Lieder and Choral works, several chamber works, two oratorios (“Heimkehr” and “Auf Bethlehems Fluren”), 3 concertos for organ and orchestra. He composed many pieces for organ, including 14 sonatas.
Life
Hans Fährmann (1860–1940) was a German organist active in Dresden at the Johanniskirche there. He wrote organ, choral and chamber music, and was described as the “Richard Strauss” of the organ, by contemporary accounts. Four recordings exist of some of his organ sonatas.
