Life
The “Joncker” in his name refers to an old Dutch title, like “mister” in English.
Jacob van Eyck was born blind, and showed an early interest in bells. He was involved in ordering a new set of bells for the carillon in his home town Heusden. Later, when he lived in Utrecht he played the carillon of the Dom Church tower. He also played his flute on the “Janskerkhof” from 1640, and was officially requested to do so for the pleasure of the people passing by from 1649.
