Over seventy works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, vocal ensembles, piano solo, electronics; commissions from leading classical artists including Erika Nickrenz, pianist; Heidi Grant Murphy, soprano; Jonathan Helton, saxophonist; Kevin Sharpe, pianist; Aureole (flute-viola-harp trio); commissions from prestigious venues: PS122 (NYC); Vassar College; performances throughout the US and Europe; major awards and honors from ASCAP, BMI, MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York State Council on the Arts, among others.

Life

Born in Philadelphia in 1962; piano studies at age six; studied at Settlement Music School; AB Composition, Vassar College, where he studied piano with Todd Crow and composition with Annea Lockwood; full fellowship to the University of Chicago where he obtained AM and PhD in Composition, studying with reknowned composers Ralph Shapey and Shulamit Ran. Resides in NYC where he is composer-in-residence at Saint Ann’s School.
