Music

Deep, atmospheric, nocturnal style, based usually on landscape. English Song, organ, choral, piano. Some orchestral.

Biography

Amidst organ scholarships and individual tuition, much of Stephen’s learning is self schooling, listening, following scores and orchestrating piano reductions of orchestral works for later synopsis with the originals. He is heavily inspired by nature and nearly all of his output is based on a landscape or series of landscapes in England. Stephen has a passion for the English countryside and this permeates all of his music; his compositional style is dark, atmospheric, contemplative and nocturnal, with an undeniably English flavour. Stephen is currently writing a set of orchestral works based on Landscapes at Blenheim Park, Oxfordshire, where he is based. He currently organises the Sunday Music series at Blenheim Palace, and is keen to support the music of English composers especially.
