Life
Professor James Douglas was born on 4 July 1932. He received his music education at Heriot Watt College, Paris Conservatoire, Mozarteum Salzburg, Hochschule Munich; m 2 16 April 1968, Helen Torrance Fairweather.
Career: Composer, Accompanist, Organist and International Recording Artist; prof l’Académie des Sciences Universelles Paris 1992–; md: Eschenbach Editions 1986–, Caritas Records 1989–.
His compositions include: 15 symphonies, 15 string quartets, 20 orchestral works, chamber music, piano music, organ music, choral music and over 200 songs; operas: Mask, The King, Moliere, Cuthbert, The Christ Church Sequence (75 Chamber works 2001–2006), The Glorious Sequence (33 works 2006-), The Highlands and Islands Sequence (66 works written between 1968-2006) and Sing unto the Lord (21 Choral pieces 2005).
