Life

Born in 1954 in Sevlievo, Bulgaria. After studying at the Music academy in Sofia he won a DAAD scholarship and graduated from the Folkwang high school in Essen - Germany, having studied electronic music composition with Dirk Reith (ICEM) and horn with Hermann Baumann. Vladimir composes electroacoustic and acoustic music, music for theatre and cinema. He participated in the festivals in Bourges and Vienna, in Essen, Athens, Sarajevo, Sofia and Belgrade. His music was presented by the Bulgarian National Radio, WDR, Deutschland Funk, ORF, INA-GRM, Concertzender Netherland and Radio Ljublyana as well.

The confrontation of the living instrument to the electronic sound is an important point in his works. So he has composed "Dialog" for horn & tape" (II. Prize in the International composition contest in Greenville, USA), "Meet and past" for marimba & tape, "Drum X-tet" for percussion player & computer and "Piano Computrato" for piano and tape. His acousmatic composition "Praying"(1998) has been first performed during ELEKTROKOMPLEX in Vienna and since then broadcasted in 6 European countries. The piece "The Secret Life of a French Horn" (1999) was presented in many festivals. Another compositions: "No Contact" I-III, "Hello-Goodbye" (tape music) "...like quietly standsteel of time" (speech-composition), "MiniMicria for 4" for two marimbas and two pianos (1999) "The Secret Life of a Violin" (acousmatic, 2000). Vladimir is member of the Society for New Music in Bulgaria, since 1998 - member of the Selection Committee of the festival "Musica Nova -Sofia" and since 2000 - member of the Executive board and treasurer of the SCMB.

Djambazov is teaching on Virtual Studio Technologies and MIDI in the Sofia University and in the New Bulgarian University.
