Biography

Prolific and versatile French composer. At the age of 20, Jean-Louis Dhaine has composed the concise masterpiece entitled “Mouvement grave” premiered by Voya Toncitch in Jacarta, Indonesia on December 5th, 1986. The music critic Mr. Gus Kairupan wrote: “Ominous chords in the lower register leading to a series of single-note patterns and heightened the intense drama.” Mr. Toncitch played the same work in Malta a year later at the Manoel Theatre at Valletta. The music critic of the weekly magazine “The Saturday Chronicle”, who signs “Artisticus”, stated: ”Mouvement grave” by Jean-Louis Dhaine moves with grandeur from one mood to another alternating lyrical and tragic aspects.” The work was also recorded by Voya Toncitch in Holland, at Hilversum for the Broadcasting Corporation NCRV and in Germany for Radio Bremen. According to Mr. Toncitch, Jean-Louis Dhaine’s work unveils his deep poetic feelings with some huge dramatic accents expressed in personal and original idiom.
