Music

Nico Dezaire has been writing music from an early age for very different instruments and ensembles in different styles. Almost all compositions and arrangements have been made for direct practical use, often in the area of teaching music. Since 1990 Nico writes for publisher De Haske (NL) / Hal Leonard (USA).

He has also written a number of pieces for diffent soloists, ensembles, orchestras and choirs.

Life

At the age of 7 he received his first music lessons from his mother, Ans Dezaire-Toirkens, a professional pianist. Soon he began making his own piano pieces.

At the age of 10 he started violin lessons at the Eindhoven Music School.

Nico attended the gymnasium at the former Hertog Jan College, Valkenswaard. In that period Nico played classical music on violin and piano, but also popmusic on electric guitar and bass in various bands.

After graduating Gymnasium B in 1982, Nico started studying at the Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg, where in 1991 he graduated. He obtained the diplomas violin teaching, violin performing musician and Theory of Music.

For his thesis "The tritone in the music of Claude Debussy" his teachers rewarded him with the title "Excellent" (10).

During his study Nico followed masterclasses at Libramont (Belgium) and Morges (Switzerland).

Between 1984 and 1991 Nico played in the European Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jean Jakus Brussels. This orchestra, where he was second concertmaster and leader of the second violins, made tours through Belgium, France and Spain, often with the European Philharmonic Choir.

After his study Nico Dezaire began a very diverse career as a violin teacher, composer, arranger, violinsoloist, editor, conductor, and teacher of music theory. He also gives introductions to concerts of Orchestras such as Het Brabants Orkest, Het Gelders Orkest and BRT Philharmonic.

To expand its musical potential Nico participated a Viola course by Marc Tooten (solo viola player of the Brabant Orchestra) and also participated 2 courses improvisation by Jan Kortie.

Nico is merried to Willeke and (step)father of 5 children.
