Music

Life

William Crotch was a child prodigy said to rival Mozart and Mendelssohn in early years. His father built him an organ to practice on, and allegedly William gave a performance at the age of 3. He became professor of music at Oxford in 1797, and became the first principal of the Royal Academy of Music in 1822. He was also an artist.
