News for Coukis

Music

Peter Coukis writes:

I’ve been composing for several years... I have about 30 CDs of original music... my style is music concrete/electronic/gothic/baroque... i play synthesizer and make extensive use of recording techniques., such as backwards sounds, tape loops, found vocals etc. I have my own label Blue Plum. Some of my CDs are: Noiroica; Harp; A Gothic Collection; Etude (for found vocals); and The Orchard. I also record as Lystra, which is more oriented toward dark, multilayered electronic tracks. CDs indlude "Bleak’ (2 discs), and "Mini Album".

Recent Compositions: "4 Essays for Synthesized Brass", which is approximately 30 minutes long — movements are: "River of Kindness" — "Indian Summer" — The Palace of Untold Secrets" — "The Long Windy Walk Home" (Esperanza) (CD and cassettes are available); 6th Piano Sonata (4 Movements); "Organ Sonata No. 2" (recorded on an antique Wurlitzer in an abandonded movie theatre).

Life

Peter Coukis writes:

I studied music at Western Connecticut State College in the early 70s. I’ve been a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for several years. I’ve had one of my tracks included on a Todd Rundgren tribute CD entitled "Still There is More".
