- Peter Coukis completes new keyboard work
(24 June 2006)Composer Peter Coukis has recently completed his most recent work, "Nymphet Serenade", a 62 minute keyboard work consisting of six movements, written in a modern style and incorporating several American influences such as ragtime. Mr. Coukis will be circulating many CD copies to libraries in the Northeast, and will eventually upload excerpts to the net.

Peter Coukis writes:
I’ve been composing for several years... I have about 30 CDs of original music... my style is music concrete/electronic/gothic/baroque... i play synthesizer and make extensive use of recording techniques., such as backwards sounds, tape loops, found vocals etc. I have my own label Blue Plum. Some of my CDs are: Noiroica; Harp; A Gothic Collection; Etude (for found vocals); and The Orchard. I also record as Lystra, which is more oriented toward dark, multilayered electronic tracks. CDs indlude "Bleak’ (2 discs), and "Mini Album".
Recent Compositions: "4 Essays for Synthesized Brass", which is approximately 30 minutes long — movements are: "River of Kindness" — "Indian Summer" — The Palace of Untold Secrets" — "The Long Windy Walk Home" (Esperanza) (CD and cassettes are available); 6th Piano Sonata (4 Movements); "Organ Sonata No. 2" (recorded on an antique Wurlitzer in an abandonded movie theatre).
Life
Peter Coukis writes:
I studied music at Western Connecticut State College in the early 70s. I’ve been a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for several years. I’ve had one of my tracks included on a Todd Rundgren tribute CD entitled "Still There is More".
