Life
Teresa Catalán was born in Pamplona, where she studied music and graduated in piano and composition, On her training as a composer in Spain and Italy, her teachers were Ramón Barce And Agustín González Acilu. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Valencia and a master in aesthetics and musical creativity from the University of Valencia. She has received several awards for composition and interpretation and recognition of her musical career.
She was a founding member of the Group of Composers of Pamplona. She has been part of the Culture Council Government of Navarre, and she has directed the music section of several international meetings and festivals.
Catalán has received commissions from various institutions and teaches courses and lectures regularly at festivals, institutions, universities and conservatories in different countries, highlighting the work done at invitations of the Conservatory P. Tchaikovsky in Moscow.
Author of the treatry “Temperate compositional systems in the twentieth century”, she has published some articles in important books and magazines as well as several music works. She is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Roles of Spanish Music Festival in Cadiz”. Her compositions have been programmed in the most important festivals of different countries and have been included in various CD recorded in Spain and Hungary.
She passed the competitive exam for the position of professor of composition and instrumentation at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid.
