News for Carter
- 100 year old Elliott Carter still composes
(10 December 2008)It is not often that we can commemorate the 100th birthday of a famous composer. 11 December 2008 is one of these rare occasions, as on that day Elliott Carter will be 100 years old.
What is even more remarkable, is that Carter still composes. In 2004 he finished a composition that was aptly named Fons Juventatis (Source of Youth), and on 8 August 2008 he finished a piece for large ensemble called Wind Rose. He also wrote some other pieces this year.
Carter's birthday will be celebrated all over the world with many concerts with his works: in New York, Washington D.C., Montréal, Amsterdam, Berlin, Helsinki. Vienna, and many more.
