Composer of operas (Tancrède (1702), Idoménée (1712), L’Europe Galante) and liturgic music (Motets, Psalms, Messe de Requiem, Te Deum). Workes in Arles (1682-1683), Toulouse (1683-1694) and Paris (1694-1700). He became vice-maitre-de-chapelle of the Chapelle Royale in 1722. He wrote many so-called Petits Motets, some of which he later worked out to his less-known so-called Grands Motets, who stayed part of the Concert Spirituel till the French Revolution.

Komponist van opera’s (Tancrède (1702), Idoménée (1712), L’Europe Galante) en liturgische muziek (Motetten, Psalmen, Messe de Requiem, Te Deum). Werkte achtereenvolgens in Arles (1681-1683), Toulouse (1683-1694) en Parijs (1694-1700). Hij werd in 1722 onderkapelmeester van de Chapelle Royale. Hij schreef vele zgn. "petits motets" waarvan hij er later enkele uitwerkte tot zijn minder bekende zgn. "grands motets" die tot aan de Franse Revolutie deel bleven uitmaken van het "Concert Spirituel".]
