Life

Bræin studied Musical Composition and Conducting from 1942 to 1945 at Musikkonservatoriet i Oslo receiving a his degree in 1943 as organist, and in 1950–51 he also studied Composition with Jean Rivier at the Conservatoire de Musique in Paris. He first conducted in 1947 the Musikselskabet Harmoniens Orkester in Bergen. Bræin wrote symphonies (1950, 1954, 1968), instrumental music for piano and orchestra, flute and orchestra, chamber music and operas (1971,1975). He also composed melodies for songs and wrote lyrics.
