Music
The “Fantaisie brillante” on motives from Carmen by Bizet, written in 1900 is the only piece by François Borne that is still played today.
Life
The dates for Borne are also often given as born in 1840 and died in 1920.
Borne taught at the Toulouse Conservatory. He was the co-inventor of the “split E” mechanism on the flute, together with Djalma Julloit. They develped the Borne-Julliot system, which is an addition to the Boehm system.
