Piano solo (pièces pittoresques, pièces légères, morceaux et cycles de concert), piano pédagogique, piano à quatre mains et deux pianos; musique de chambre: trois sonates et deux quatuors cordes et piano, un septuor, nombreux trios et duos pour formations diverses; chant: mélodies, choeurs (notamment, une messe, un cantique de Jean Racine), pièces pour orgue,orchestre. Style romantique, touche impressioniste, parfois orientaliste, parfois chromatisante ou "Debussyste"; tous les climats du léger au dramatique. musique "hypersensible". Nombreuse rééditions et enregistrements récents.

Brillantes études musiclaes au Conservatoire de Paris en compagnie de Debussy, Pierné, etc. Professeurs: César Franck, Ernest Guiraud, Bazille. Une destin contrarié, un mariage forcé, une douloureuse love story. Une oeuvre jouée et respectée en son temps mais longtemps oubliée. Fascinating destiny, related in her biography; "Mel Bonis, femme et compositeur" (Mel Bonis,woman and composer) par Christine Géliot, aux éditions de l’Harmattan, à Paris.
