Life
Paul Ben-Haim, born in Germany as Paul Frankenburger, is on of Israel’s most important composers.
He studied compsition, composing and conducting at the Munich Academy of Arts from 1915 till 1920. He was conductor at Augsburg from 1924 till 1931. At the beginning of the Nazi rule he emigrated to Tel-Aviv. He then also changed his name to Paul Ben-Haim.
In 1957 he received the Israel State Prize, and he was awarded the Joel Engel Prize of the city of Tel-Aviv several times.Sources — links
