Music

Tre pezzi in forma di sonata op. 44 per violino e pianoforte. La Ronde des lutins op. 25 per violino e pianoforte.

Biography

Encouraged by Paganini, Bazzini began his concert career at an early age and became one of the most highly regarded artist of his time. He was much admired by Schumann and Mendelssohn.

He toured Spain, Denmark, France, Germany.

Returning to Brescia, he devoted himself to composition, abandoning the virtuoso opera fantasias and character-pieces (such as "La ronde des lutins" or "Le muletier").

In 1873 he became composition professor at the Milan Conservatory and, in 1882, its director.

Among his pupils there were Catalani, Mascagni and Puccini.
