  • 246 hymn tunes (published in 1897 in one volume)
  • Some partsongs (among them the popular Sweet and Low)
  • Some pieces for the pipe organ

Life

The English composer and conductor Joseph Barnby was appointed — in succession to Charles Gounod — conductor of the Royal Albert Hall Choral Society. He held this post till his death in 1896. He is buried in West Norwood Cemetery.
