Music

He has fused ethnic elements with avant-garde techniques. His music is exceptionally accessible and retains a constant freshness and a Spanish character with Villa-Lobos as an influence. A beautiful recording of three major works has just been released by Naxos CD - 8.555039 The works are: Piano Concerto no. 3 (which, like many contemporary piano concertos, is more like a symphony with or for piano); Concierto Magico for Guitar and Orchestra; and Music for Flute and Orchestra. The Barcelona and the Catalonia National Orchestras under the direction of Jose Serebrier perform all of these works.

Violin Concerto no. 1 (1982); "Folk Dreams" consisting of: "Line and Thunder" (on a Latvian melody) 1996; "Shadows" (on a Catalan melody) 1994; and "Echoes" (on Irish melodies) 1998; "Sardana" (1979) and "Fantasias Sonoras" (1987). All of these pieces available on Naxos CD 8.554708.
