Schickele “discovers” new PDQ Bach music (29 January 2008)
It took professor Schickele over ten years, but finally there is now a new album with new music from PDQ Bach. This CD is called “The Jekyll and Hyde Show.” It includes recent P.D.Q. “discoveries,” e.g. the "Four Next-to-Last Songs" and a string quartet with subtitle “The Moose.”
[I am still looking for information about the music of P.D.Q. Bach, that I can publish here. If you think you can help, then let me know.]
Biography
P.D.Q. Bach did not live backwards in time. The confusion is caused by an error on his grave marker, which had the dates carved in reverse order. (thanks Troy M. <cleotalkaol.com>)
We know from Prof. Schickele’s biography that P.D.Q. expired on 5 May 1807. No day of birth is given, but it seems to me that he must have been born on 1 April (1742).
