Shakuhachi Chamber Music International Prize 2010Composers are invited to enter new compositions for the Shakuhachi Chamber Music Composition Competition 2010 with piano trio (piano, violin, cello).
Finalist compositions for this international competition will be performed, offered a publishing deal and recorded in Melbourne, Australia. - Contest of Choral Composition
[posted 16 October 2009]Amadeus Choir from Puebla de la Calzada (Badajoz) announces its IV Choral Composition Contest with the aim/purpose of promoting new compositions and composers and with a special emphasis on music from Extremadura.

As in passed editions works can be presented in two modalities: Mixed Voice modality and Single Voice modality. Furthermore, a special prize will be awarded in any modality to the best work with a theme based on Extremadura. Authors can submit their works in latin, spanish or extremeñu (dialect from Extremadura, Castuo or others). The deadline to present the works is the 31st of December 2009.
Amadeus Contest is part of Contemp-Coralia project, belonging to a greater project called Extremadura y su Música and has been sponsored by Consejería de Cultura y Turismo de la Junta de Extremadura (Regional Cultural Ministry).
We also wanted to point out that Amadeus Contest of Choral Composition not only promotes awarded works with editorial contracts and so on, but tries to spread and publish those works that can be interesting for the choral community. - Composition Contest Announcement

SingersPostmark deadline for next season: October 23, 2009
Prize: $700 and two performances; Possible recording
There is no entry fee.
Submission criteria:
Original composition for a cappella, 4-6 part mixed choir, occasional
divisi is acceptable;
Three to six minutes long;
Not previously performed in Massachusetts;
Anonymous submission:
Remove all names and identifying marks;
Provide a sealed envelope containing your name, address, email and phone number;
Submit a legible score. In addition, recordings will be accepted but are not required.
If the text is not public domain, include written permission to use it.
You may submit electronically, to the e-mail below, with a pdf attachment. Sibelius, Finale and other formats will not be accepted.
The winning composition is to be performed in May of 2010 at the Cambridge Chamber Singers concerts in the Boston area. CCS encourages the composer’s attendance.The Cambridge Chamber Singers reserves the right to not award a prize.
The winning composer must provide a final performance score by January 10, 2010. CMS will make 40 copies for the chorus.
There are no restrictions according to race, sex, age or residency. The text may be in any language. A composer may submit more than one piece.

- 15th Summer Composition Program in Paris
[posted 7 November 2008]The European American Musical Alliance, Inc. (EAMA) is pleased to announce its 15th Summer Composition Program in Paris, France with Dr. Philip Lasser and Professors Michel Merlet and Narcis Bonet on the Composition Faculty. Program Dates: July 1–31, 2009. The Composition Program offers musical training in the legendary tradition of the French pedagogue Nadia Boulanger. Students study the crafts of Composition: Counterpoint, Harmony, Sight-reading, and Ear Training and participate in Chorale. Composers have weekly composition lessons and attend regularly scheduled analysis classes and lecture/demonstrations by renowned scholars and performers. The EAMA Summer Composition program together with the Conducting and Chamber Music Programs have regularly scheduled concerts and masterclasses throughout the month of July. eamusic.org.There is a $50 application fee. Completed applications are due January 17, 2009 (postmark), in order to be considered for financial assistance for the July 2009 session. - New Call for Works - North Easter Contemporary Violin Release
[posted 12 September 2008]All European Composers resident and Active in North Easter Italy are invited to submit proposals for a work for solo violin. The work will be rehearsed, performed and recorded by Julie Anne Derome of Trio Fibonacci. The Works will be collected in a record with the scores and some video excepts. The CD/DVD will be the first of a series to come belonging to of the Interactive European Mediateque.
The Project Supported by Regione Veneto is due by the end of the year.

Continuing to promote contemporary composer and their works, Vox Novus is
inviting composers to submit recorded works 60 seconds or less in length to
included in its sixth annual 60x60 project. 60 compositions will be selected
to be played continuously in a one-hour concert. The 60x60 concert season
will begin with a debut in New York City and continue throughout the world

(1) Workshop of one week in Venice with Rohan De Sarm (cello) and Garth Knox (viola) in May open to performers and composers.
(2) Creation of a composers web where everyone may write a composition for the above soloist given the fact that he is able to organise a twin event in his country.
The encounter with these prestigious European musicians can represent for the young performers and composers the occasion to deepen and to perfect contemporary techniques and literature The two teacher will be helped with analysis courses and compositive technical aspects deepenings. To conclusion of the jobs a concert with the best solists of the courses will be recorded and a DVD will be made presenting all the music written for the occasion.
