Life
Aiblinger studied in Munich and in Bergamo as a pupil of Simon Mayr. He also lived for many years in Vicenza, Venice and Milan and from 1819 worked in Munich, firstly as a Kapellmeister at the "Italian opera", and from 1823 as Vizehofkapellmeister and Hofkapellmeister at the Kgl. Hoftheater und Nationaltheater (since 1826); later he worked at the Allerheiligenhofkirche (since 1837).
Aiblinger is a representative of the church-musical restoration movement.
