Rating: - Beautiful, stunning recording
This disc is a real gem. I took a chance and bought it (never having heard of the record label or the choir, nor most of the music for that matter!) and was very happily surprised. I am not Lutheran (not even Christian) yet the yearning for the Absolute rings clearly in each piece. Highly recommended!
Rating: - Absolutely Magnificent Recording of Sacred Music!
Luther said so well that next to the Word of God, nothing is so powerful in touching us with God's love than music!
This CD reverbrates on that theme! Wonderful stuff from Luther's own kantor: Johann Walter, plus the great works by Desprez, Othmayr, Osiander and Von Bruck and Praetorius.
Especially enjoy Walter's "Beati Immanulati".
Must for baroque fans.

Life
Martin Agricola was not only composer but also a music theorist. The most important treatise he wrote was a work on musical instruments: “Musica instrumentalis deaudsch” (1528). This work was based on Virdung’s “Musica getutsch” form 1511, but in verse.
